Midwest Driving Conference Summary of Seminars

Head Start for CDE
Mary Ruth Marks, a driver at Intermediate and the Advanced Level, an ADS CDE judge and experienced trainer will provide all the information necessary to plan and participate in combined driving events.

Training for Fitness
Theresa Burns is a founding member of the Midwest Distance Driving Assoc.  With her years of experience riding and driving at long distances competitions she is eager to share her experiences in getting horses fit for competition.

Distance Driving
Wes Licht will present a summary of the rules, principals and organization involved in competitive distance driving.

Turnout
John Greenall is one of the best known ADS Pleasure judges in the US and a authority on how to dress, harness and what vehicles to use for pleasure driving, dressage and cones classes.  His well illustrated lectures are fun and informative.

Principals of Driven Dressage.
Rochelle Temple is and ADS CDE judge and a well known advanced competitor who will discuss what is expected at the various levels of competition and how dressage training will improve your horse. ( Part of Head Start for CDEs)

A Turnout Style Show
John Greenall will review the clothing choices of several drivers and discuss what is appropriate and what is not.  Live models will be on hand, including the worst turned out lady driver in the Midwest.

Open Forum
Several ADS judges, the ADS executive secretary and a board member will be on hand to discuss and get suggestions for the future of the ADS and to ask questions regarding the rules and regulations that govern ADS competitions.  Questions on any driving related topic are welcome.

Starting the Driving Horse
A hands on demonstration by Debbie Bevan and Mary Ruth Marks of the first steps in training

Basics of Dressage
Driven demonstration with commentary by Shelly Temple.  A discussion of submission, suspension, engagement, definition of the gaits, etc.

Registration & Vendors
Coffee and pastry will be available at registrations. Vendors and club booths can be visited at breaks, lunch and between seminars.
